Community Police Team
Emma Cooper and Tracy Jones – Community Police Officers
Our role as the Community Police Officers is to co-ordinate a dedicated team in addressing community concerns. We am supported by a team of Police Officers, Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) and Special Constables. We provide regular foot patrols in the Rodbourne Cheney neighbourhood and can help solve problems and provide support with specific community issues.
Within the schools themselves we offer support with any topics/ issues that arise, e.g. sessions with Year 6 & Year 5 on Anti Bullying. We also offer the usual visits to the class rooms to explain what we do and show them the kit we use.
We sit and have lunch with the children as well and it’s great when we see them out and about as they actually get to know us.
All of the NPT pop in when they can, just for a walk around the playground to chat with the children and staff as and when. Our aims are to build the trust and confidence of the pupils and their parents (we hope in the future to be able to attend parents’ evenings).
We personally believe it is vital that Police officers are involved in schools and I look forward to any involvement that we can have.
