Christmas is a time for coming together. However, for many elderly people living alone, it can be a difficult time.
There are over 2 million people over 75 living on their own in the UK, and we believe it’s so important to do what we can to counter loneliness, especially at this time of year.
To help do our part and spread some good feelings this christmas, we’ve been taking part in Be a Santa to a Senior, organised by Home Instead.
As part of the initiative, our pupils have been creating gifts, cards, puzzles, and artworks to send to elderly people living alone or in care homes.
Last week on Friday, the Senior Care support team from Home Instead visited the school to collect the gifts which will be distributed around Swindon. The team were dressed as elves and our pupils had a lot of fun meeting them!
Our staff and all the children did a really great job putting their gifts together and we really hope they bring some joy to elderly people around Swindon!
