The new year has only just begun, but the Rodbourne Cheney dance team is already busy practising for two very exciting upcoming events.
Led by our excellent dance teacher, Bobbi Newman, and our school dance lead, Kate Forster, the dance team is composed of both boys and girls from year 5 and year 6. The team has been rehearsing weekly as they work toward the goal of being ready to perform a full routine in front of a live audience.
On 27th February in the 3:00 p.m. session, the team will be putting on a show at Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre, dancing in front of their families and friends as well as members of the school community. The event will serve as good preparation for the squad’s highly anticipated competitive debut in Oxford.
On 17th March, our dancers will compete in the regional stage of the nationwide Great Big Dance Off (GBDO) competition. The GBDO is the only national dance competition aimed solely at schools, and it is a real honour for our pupils to be taking part.
Dance is a great way for boys and girls to get active, express themselves, and learn how to work in a disciplined team. That’s why we are delighted to include dance as one of our physical education options. As a school, we are proud to offer our children the opportunity to not only enjoy the liberating practice of dance, but also to be able to perform routines live on stage.
Everyone at Rodbourne Cheney Primary School wishes the team the best of luck at their upcoming events. We’re sure you’ll do us proud!
