Children at our school enjoyed a magical experience last Thursday as they witnessed an extraordinary performance of The Snow Queen by visiting theatre company Quantum Theatre.
As part of their school day, pupils from years 3 to 6 sat down to watch a fantastic adaption of the classic Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale. The amazing Quantum Theatre put on a spellbinding performance, telling the story of Gerda as she searches for her friend Kay who has been taken by the wicked Snow Queen to her polar palace in the icy north.
Children and staff alike were very entertained by the cast of weird and wonderful characters, immersive live music, and moving story. The play was organised by staff as part of our book-based curriculum, and many children have been studying the book in class. After it had ended, we asked some pupils what they thought of the play:
Jayden said: "It was really funny and great to see a version of The Snow Queen having enjoyed the book." Ily also thought "the performance was very exciting", while Anaya described the performance as "spectacular, spectacular because it was just like the book." Finally, Chloe marvelled: "The pictures created in our minds from the book came to life."
At Rodbourne Cheney Primary School, our thematic learning programme helps us provide regular events and visits that are relevant to our pupils’ education and bring the curriculum to life.
We’d like to give a huge thanks to the excellent Quantum Theatre for putting on such a captivating and touching show to warm us up as the winter weather really kicks in.
We have a whole host of events scheduled for the coming Christmas period. Keep an eye on our blog for more updates coming soon!
